VideoRay is the largest volume producer of underwater ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) in the world. Established in 1999, VideoRay has worked with technology and mission partners throughout the world to develop and provide the small ROV tool for a wide range of applications. With over 2,500 units delivered to many different organizations for a wide range of missions, hundreds of VideoRays work every day throughout the world underwater keeping us free from terrorism, finding and retrieving objects, inspecting infrastructure both inland and offshore, and keeping divers safe from hazardous conditions.
The company was looking for a new logo while retaining their old company symbol in the manta ray. Initially seeking a logo that portrayed modularity to express the versatile uses of the VideoRay products, the design direction turned to a single ubiquitous symbol with the intent on being a long-standing icon for both commercial and private sectors. The abstracted ray symbol possesses a light and airy quality, floating over the logotype, acting much like the different ROV models underwater.
